Quality & Influence
Meta

At Meta, I run quality programs to ensure a high quality bar for design and an influence program to help content designers increase their influence on product teams and across the company.

Elevating the content design discipline and helping content designers grow and expand their skill sets is core to my work, and is one of the reasons I moved from IC to manager.

Quality programs

I started my work with quality leading content design critique sessions and one-on-one sessions with senior content designers to review design prior to shipping. After a year of leading these sessions, I designed classes to train new quality leads and surveyed content designers to figure out ways to improve and evolve the programs. took on the role of not only leading the programs, but also iterating on and evolving them. These changes included restructuring the sessions, creating requirements and training for new leads, and scaling best practices to the broader content design org.

Influence circle

Content design is still a relatively new discipline, which means CDs often join product teams that haven’t had exposure to the discipline. Because of this, content designers are not included in strategy sessions and planning, and sometimes the overall design process.

I started the content design influence circle so CDs could share their experiences and get equipped with the tools they need to have more influence. The first circle had 8 participants in EMEA, and over a year and a half has grown to 80+ participants globally.
